Climbed both sides of this Puerto on the same day in early September. First climb from Vielha. Looks easy on paper but some sections were tricky. Nice thing is that this is not an HC climb so you have plenty of sections to catch your breath. It is also nice that the first 10 km of the climb there is a wide hard shoulder where you can cycle just fine and that in Spain there is a law that cars have to overtake at least 1.5 metres away from the bike. Furthermore, the road to the top is of reasonably good quality and everything is well sealed with crash barriers. At the summit, a restaurant is open where you can get something to eat and drink.
