The Furcia Pass (Furkelpass) from Valdaora is a climb that shouldn’t be underestimated. I tackled it on the way back from an already very demanding day, and it certainly deserves more respect: the central section consists of a couple of kilometers with gradients well into double digits, followed by a short stretch that allows you to catch your breath a bit before the road steepens again in the final kilometers.
The final section runs through the woods, limiting the views somewhat. In the first half of the climb, however, there are splendid views of the Dolomites… provided you have enough breath left to enjoy the scenery.
Il Passo Furcia (Furkelpass) da Valdaora è una salita da non sottovalutare. L'ho affrontata sulla via del ritorno di una giornata già molto impegnativa e meriterebbe sicuramente più rispetto: presenta un paio di chilometri centrali abbondantemente in doppia cifra, seguiti da un breve tratto che permette di recuperare un po' prima che la strada si impenni nuovamente negli ultimi chilometri.
La parte finale si sviluppa all'interno del bosco, limitando un po' i panorami. Nella prima metà della salita, invece, si aprono splendide viste sulle Dolomiti... sempre che si abbia abbastanza fiato per godersene il panorama.

Mooie klim met veel vergezichten. Begin is druk, maar wordt al snel rustiger na het hotel met de parkeerplaats binnen in de haarspeldbocht.
