A tough climb on a quiet road. The gradients go towards 13% at times. The views of the mountains are fantastic. It our first ride this holiday, so an excellent warm-up
I did this starting from Sares, which is just above San Lorenzo di Sebato. Follow the Pliscia road for about ten kilometres and you will arrive at the crossroads for the Furcia, joining the indicated route.
The Pliscia road is an excellent alternative: slopes that are never treacherous, a sufficiently well-maintained road surface (a little attention must be paid to a few potholes if you go downhill) and a beautiful view of the valley below. Just after Pieve di Marebbe you turn left for Passo Furcia, sticking to the indicated route when there are six kilometres to the summit.
And these are the six kilometres of the "true" Furcia, with gradients close to 10% kept fairly steady. Up to the village of Costamesana, the climb is never particularly bad, but in the following kilometres it continually goes into double figures, although there are some easier sections. The penultimate kilometre, however, is the toughest, because there are no intervals to recover. Thus one arrives five hundred metres from the lake rather squeezed, so much so that one appreciates with gratitude the presence of the falsopiano that leads to the pass proper.
All in all, a beautiful climb, with challenging gradients, good asphalt, and the comfort of the forest for a good part of the route.
Beautiful panoramic climb to be taken with respect, especially the last few kilometres! It certainly deserves .
Merita senzaltro .
