It's a climb that is definitely within everyone's reach and you have time to rest once you get over the Eira pass. Probably the only difficulty can be given to those who can hardly stand over 2000.
blissful climb, very accessible and much more doable than Forcola (far too many cars's there) this climb is ideal length to still ride well. it is really worth doing this one
This is, in my opinion, actually two climbs. The first climb you start in Livigno along a fairly wide road with occasional views of Livigno. After the top of the Eira, you have a short but fast descent to start the second climb. You cycle in a beautiful valley with nice views everywhere. The climb starts through a tunnel that is open on one side. The most difficult bit comes at the end. However, it never gets really tough and so the climb is also popular with pro teams coming to Livigno for training.
If you climb the Passo di Foscagno from Livigno, you have its slightly lower brother Passo Eira (2208 m) as a starter.
You start at roundabout San Antonio (center Livigno) and after the bridge over the Spöl river to the right begins the first climb through some hairpin bends. Overall not really difficult but here and there some steeper passages.
Regularly on the way beautiful panoramic views of the entire valley around your starting point.
Just before the first summit a spectacular downhill mountain bike track dives under the road.
After a steep descent the second climbing segment follows at the outside of the village of Trepalle. Slightly ascending with here and there a short, slightly steeper section (road sign 14) and some hairpin bends.
At the top there is a customs checkpoint (Guardia Finanza). But they assume that mountain bikers do not smuggle tax free tobacco/alcohol in their backpack.
At times there is a lot of tourist traffic and freight. The latter is forbidden on weekdays after 18h / Saturdays after 10h and completely on Sundays.
Nice two-part climb without extremes.
Mooie tweedelige klim zonder extremen.
