Very nice ascent from Faja dos Cubres that you will have to descend before venturing up, as it is a dead end. The road is not very wide, but the road surface is very good. You climb up along a mountainside along the coast for the most part. Many times you have views over the sea, the village and the lake. There are several viewpoints to take a quiet look at here.

The climb continues briskly and only really flattens out at the end. Because of the steep percentages, I would avoid the inside bends. But also because of the tourist traffic you might occasionally encounter. But overall, the climb is wonderfully quiet.

If you want to continue after the climb, you can turn left at the top at the main road and then left again towards serro do topo. This road continues undulating and offers you views of the other side of the island. Between the green hills and fields you climb some more, but not nearly as hard as this climb.
