If you like your climbs steep and not too long this could be a climb for you. It is in a slightly urban setting, and there can be a some light traffic on the road. However the road is wide enough for the traffic to get round you and the surface is good. It starts steep and keeps steep ! As it's on the edge of High Wycombe it's a great gateway to the Chilterns if you're outbound from the town centre. Guaranteed to get your heart rate up.... read more

Unexpectedly hard, this one, and a bit of a Chiltern classic, in some ways. You start in houses and finish in houses, but you pass through a few fields in between, if you have time to look. You wouldn't expect a climb in this locale to be as hard as this, in the lower part of the Chilterns, but its' a actually a good challenge, and quite interesting from a purely climbing point of view. The bends make it interesting too, and it keeps going round a few more bends than you want it to before finally easing.

I would recommend detouring to this climb, depending on your route and the other options you're considering. The other routes up to the Naphill - Lacey Green ridge are all good though, and I wouldn't say this climb is better than Stocking Lane (yet to be added at time of writing) or Clappins Lane, but it's still worth doing, and it's probably the toughest of the three.
