Beautiful greetings and beautiful views. Counting the ascent from Crodo you lose a few factors to take into account. the first is that there are already km of ascent from Domodossola to get to Crodo. The second is that in such a long section there are some flat stretches, lowering the average % much. the hardest point is from Ponte (in Formazza ) at the level of the hydroelectric power station to the Waterfall (5km at 7.5%) and from Riale to the lake (800m but very hard). The lake is really picturesque and Riale is a gem. Numerous water fountains and often heavy traffic with narrow roads. Recommended!!!

Bellissima saluta e bellissimi panorami. Consigliato!!!

Nice climb with reasonably little traffic. Halfway up you can take the closed road (there is a big gate in front of it) well, tarmac is fine and no cars come. At the cascata del Toce there is more activity because of the super beautiful waterfall. Continue cycling for a little bit, with a few flatter stretches in between, until you reach the end at the reservoir. Definitely worth it.

This climb is really worth it for many reasons!

It is said that Marco Pantani attacked for the last time in the Giro d'Italia on this climb (30/05/2003), stage to Cascata del Toce, and there's an artwork along the route in remembrance.

The views of the huge waterfall (Cascata del Toce) are impressive too!

For the rest this climb is really long, but not very steep.

The only tricky part is the point just after Foppiano, where you have to choose between the tunnel or the old hairpin road. Most local riders take the hairpin road up (even if is officially closed). The well lit tunnel is fine on the way down.
