A short but challenging climb from Bourg St Maurice, the cyclists' kingdom.
Best done in the cool of the morning, as it's exposed to the sun from early on.
Lots of traffic up to the village of Vulmix, then it's quiet.
The scenery unfolds as you climb, and at the summit it's the apotheosis.
A pleasant little climb, ideal for getting your legs back in shape after the winter season or for short training sessions. On this sun-drenched slope, the road dries quickly and warms you up or cooks you, depending on the season.
From Bourg to Vulmix the traffic flows smoothly, and from Vulmix to Lathuile the air is no longer diesel-fuelled. Once you arrive in Lathuile, take the road to the left of the charming chapel of St Barthélemy. There is a short kilometre's climb for those with pizza wheels, but for those with gravel wheels, the adventure continues.
The view from the top offers a magnificent panorama of the valley's four ski resorts.
For more, on the way down, when you arrive in Vulmix take the Montgirod/Les Chapelles direction and from there you can follow the sunny side of the valley as far as Valezan and Granier.
