There are definitly better climbs in France but its worth to try it. The whole climb has the same gradient for the whole time
The Plagne Aime 2000 is a really pleasant climb, with a constant gradient of around 8％ and numerous hairpin bends that break the rhythm and invite you to pick up the pace. I rode it just before Tour 2025 and found the asphalt to be in perfect condition, smooth and fast, which makes the climb even more enjoyable. An ideal climb for those looking for regularity and alpine views without excessive jostling.

A good HC pass, quite hard until La Plagne Centre, after that, the last 3 km are quite cool! The view at the beginning is quite obstructed by the forest but it's quickly magnificent from the half of the pass! The view at the top is very nice, I advise you to bring a good K-Way at the top because it's blowing and it's essential for the descent.
Un bon col HC, bien dur jusque La Plagne Centre, après, les 3 derniers km sont assez cool ! Une vue au départ assez obstruée par la forêt au départ mais assez vite magnifique dès la moitié du col ! La vue en haut est très belle, je vous conseille de prévoir un bon K-Way en haut car ça souffle bien et c'est indispensable pour la descente.
Nice climb if you are in the area. I cycled it from Bourg Saint Maurice (07-2022). Route to the climb is via the cycle path along the Isère. Beautiful winding cycle path along the river. The climb starts with a lot of hard work, but it flattens out towards the end. Beautiful views and good tarmac for French standards. No major cracks anywhere, except between La Plagne 1800 and 2000. The signs along the road go up to La Plagne, but from there it's still a bit further to La Plagne 2000. In short, less beautiful than the other larger climbs in the area, but then it is definitely worth it!
Leuke beklimming als je in de buurt bent. Heb deze gefietst vanuit Bourg Saint Maurice (07-2022). Route naar de klim kan via het fietspad langs de Isère. Prachtig kronkelend fietspad langs het riviertje. Klim begint pittig, maar naar het eind vlakt deze af. Mooie vergezichten en prima asfalt voor Franse begrippen. Nergens grote scheuren, behalve tussen La Plagne 1800 en 2000. De bordjes langs de weg gaan tot La Plagne, maar vanaf daar is het nog klein stukje door naar La Plagne 2000. Kortom, minder mooi dan de andere grotere beklimmingen in de buurt, maar daarna is het zeker de moeite waard!
On 29-8 I cycled from Bourg Saint Maurice to La Plagne, fantastic trip! Contrary to what is said above, I found the climb very beautiful. Much through the forest and the higher you go, the more alpine meadows and views. La Plagne itself is not a very nice village, but you see that only at the end. Piece at the bobsleigh track is indeed very nice! Asphalt is less on some parts, but not bad anywhere. They were now working on the road again, so will be regularly renewed. End point is not recognizable despite the mile markers. Traffic to La Plagne in summer I found in terms of quantity not so bad and also the French (and tourists) on the busy N90 I found more than decent driving. I would say, still cycling!
Op 29-8 vanuit Bourg Saint Maurice naar La Plagne gefietst, fantastische tocht! In tegenstelling tot wat hierboven staat vond ik de beklimming erg mooi. Veel door het bos en hoe hoger, hoe meer alpenweides en vergezichten. La Plagne zelf is niet een heel mooi dorp, maar dat zie je pas op het laatst. Stuk bij de bobsleebaan is inderdaad erg mooi! Asfalt is op sommige stukken minder, maar nergens slecht. Ze waren nu ook weer aan de weg bezig, dus zal ook regelmatig vernieuwd worden. Eindpunt is niet te herkennen ondanks de kilometerpaaltjes. Verkeer naar La Plagne in de zomer vond ik qua hoeveelheid meevallen en ook de Franse (en toeristen) op de drukke N90 vond ik meer dan behoorlijk rijden. Ik zou zeggen, toch fietsen!
Totally agree. However, I would recommend not taking the N90 and instead take a parallel road. Then you climb a bit more, but ride on a sort of balcony with nicer views.
Helemaal eens. Echter zou ik aanraden niet de N90 te pakken en juist een parallel weggetje. Dan klim je iets meer, maar rijd je op een soort balkon met mooiere uitzichten.
I'm not much of a skier so I took my MTB to Belle Plagne. Last sunday 1x and today 2x the ride down and up. This is in preparation for the Alpe d'HuZes. It was hard work. The sun was shining but it was pretty cold going down. With my MTB I didn't have too much trouble with the holes in the road but I can imagine that with a racing bike you have to be careful. It was tough but if I follow this site I'm on 3x Alpe d'HuZes. Very useful site and respect if you cycled them all!
Ben niet zo'n skiër dus heb m'n MTB meegenomen naar Belle Plagne. Afgelopen zondag 1x en vandaag 2x de rit naar beneden en boven gemaakt. Dit ter voorbereiding op de Alpe d'HuZes. Was afzien. Zonnetje scheen wel maar naar beneden was het toch pittig koud. Met m'n MTB niet zo veel last gehad van de gaten in de weg maar kan me voorstellen dat het met een racefiets oppassen is. Het was zwaar maar als ik deze site volg dan ben ik zo'n beetje op 3x Alpe d'HuZes. Handige site hoor en respect als je ze allemaal gefietst hebt!
Delicious climb, not very steep and in terms of length to do well. Only arrival is not so beautiful, no Arrivee sign while the whole climb is km signs and even 21 hairpin signs I found the asphalt not so bad.
Heerlijke beklimming,nergens heel steil en qua lengte goed te doen. Aleen aankomst niet zo heel mooi,geen Arrivee bordje terwijl de hele beklimming wel km bordjes en zelfs 21 haarspeldbochten bordjes Ik vond het asfalt overigens wel meevallen..
