The profile is otherwise varied with some tough sections. For instance between kilometres 7 and 10 (towards Certosa) and in the final section to Maso Corto. In between, there are plenty of flatter sections to recover. The road is well paved, runs through a quiet valley and is reasonably clear. Halfway there is an impressive reservoir with flat sections. This is followed by the final climb to the ski station.
Once you have passed the test of courage of the long tunnel at the entrance to the valley, you will be rewarded with a very varied and beautiful climb. Although it is steep, the ramps are not too long, so that you can always find some respite. It is therefore easier to cycle than the Martell Valley or Stelvio Pass. The village of Meine Frau and the reservoir above it are beautiful. In Kurzras, ski clubs are already training on the glacier in October.
Recommended if you don't mind a dead end :-) There is a 1km tunnel at the beginning of the climb, it is well lit but I put on my back light after the ride. You never know if the car that you hear coming in your back has seen actually seen you or not. But once I was past that tunnel, I enjoyed the climb and the scenery. Kurzras is just another ugly ski-resort, there are nicer places just before the lake if you want to eat/drink something.
Quiet climb with varied landscape. Especially the view over the lake is beautiful. Asphalt is somewhat variable in quality. Little traffic (early evening) and out of the sun so somewhat cool.
