A 1-kilometre climb where you go from south to north straight up through the built-up area of Simpelveld to the Huls district on a wide asphalt road. It starts snappy right from the Stampstraat up the St. Remigiusstraat. After this, it flattens out a bit after a few hundred metres. As you enter the right-hand bend, you get the steepest part of the climb in front of your wheels. Only just before the top does it then level off again. Regardless, it remains a tough climb.
Klim van 1 kilometer waar je van zuid naar noord dwars door de bebouwde kom van Simpelveld omhoog gaat naar de wijk Huls over een brede asfaltweg. Het begint al gelijk pittig als je vanaf de Stampstraat de St. Remigiusstraat opgaat. Hierna vlakt het na een paar honderd meter weer wat af. Als je de bocht naar rechts inrijdt krijg je het steilste deel van de klim voor de wielen. Pas vlak voor de top vlakt het dan weer af. Het blijft hoe dan ook een pittige klim.
Somehow this climb feels a bit special to me. I don't know what it is. You climb up here through an old residential area on a wide road in nice curves. Percentages go up quite a bit, but it doesn't get anywhere as steep as other well-known calf bites in the region.
Op de één of andere manier voelt deze klim voor mij toch wel wat speciaal. Ik weet niet wat het is. Je klimt hier door een oude villawijk over een brede weg in mooie bochten naar boven. Percentages lopen best even op maar het wordt nergens zo steil als andere bekende kuitenbijters in de regio.

van Amstel Gold Race lus 2 (met 35 graden) het zwaarste wel gehad te hebben, en toen kwam deze uit het niets opdoemen. Dat werd harken naar de top, echt een pittig ding dit! Daarnaast 1 van de mooiste vergezichten in Zuid-Limburg.

Bij velen niet al te bekende klim omdat hij net buiten de bekende zone ligt. Zeker niet te onderschatten, hij loopt regelmatig goed steil door zodat je geen rust krijgt. De klim ligt tussen de woonhuizen van Simpelveld, dus verwacht geen mooie omgeving., bovenop wel een mooi panorama. Prima asfalt maar wel regelmatig lokaal verkeer. Ik zou hem zeker een keer meenemen tussen alle "vaste" AGR klimmetjes, goed alternatief. Naar ik meen ooit het decor geweest van het NK.
Stunning climb where the lowest gears are needed (at least for me). Right from the start this one goes up and it keeps going up steeply, bend after bend. The "flatter" part in the middle is hardly noticeable for your nagging legs. At three quarters of the way there is a viewpoint with a very nice view over Simpelveld and further, where you can see the church in the depth. A bit further on the view behind you is even better.
Slopende klim waar de laagste versnellingen nodig zijn (bij mij wel iig). Meteen vanaf het begin knalt deze omhoog en het blijft steil omhoog gaan, bocht na bocht. Het "vlakkere" gedeelte in het midden is amper merkbaar voor je zeurende benen. Op driekwart is er een uitzichtpunt met zeer fraai uitzicht over Simpelveld en verder, waar je de kerk in de diepte ziet liggen. Iets verderop is het uitzicht achter je nog mooier.
