In August 2019 I cycled this beautiful and challenging climbing route in the middle of nature with a beautiful finish on the dam. After the exit of the busy national road (Andermatt-Wassen)you descend to the foot of the climb in village Göschenen, where good signposting guides you on the right path. Initially uphill past alpine meadows, followed by coniferous forest and towards the end winding through 6 hairpin bends and 3 not long unlit tunnels through rock formations. Beautiful, but tough climb in a wonderful environment. The last part is forbidden for cars so that the cyclist can fully enjoy everything around him. The dead end at the dam with the beautiful green-blue lake is a worthy ending!

The last 6 km. are flirting with a 10% % gradient.
There is hardly any housing (camping along the river) and thus little traffic. The dam, covered with green grass, looms up and the road stops at the mountain guesthouse (supply / parking / public toilet). Past the barrier you can continue on asphalt roads for a while until you reach the dam of the green-blue lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks and the large Dammaglacier.
A more beautiful endpoint cannot be.

Hidden gem, Climbfinder is right!!!!!!

Lovely climb, dead end at the end, so you have to go back ;-) Worthwhile.
