The ascent is moderate at the beginning, up to the Bismarck Tower (small viewing tower in the first hairpin bend after just over 1 km). The route then climbs over 10%, the upper section is somewhat flatter again. Shortly before the summit, you pass through another small section of forest, where the tarmac is not really good. The last section leads straight up to the huge transmission mast, which can be seen from afar. Here it is quite steep again towards the end. There is little car traffic, but it is difficult to pass each other because the road is not very wide.
Der Geisberg ist nicht sehr hoch, dennoch einer der höchsten Anstiege entlang der Saar. Der Einstieg beginnt in Schoden, hier muss zunächst die Eisenbahn überquert werden. Am Beginn ist die Steigerung moderat, bis zum Bismarckturm (kleiner Aussichtsturm in der ersten Spitzkehre nach etwas über 1 km). Danach geht es über 10%, der obere Teil ist wieder etwas flacher. Kurz vor dem Gipfel durchfährt man nochmal ein kleines Waldstück, hier ist der Asphalt nicht wirklich gut. Der letzte Abschnitt führt schnurgerade auf den riesigen Sendemast zu, der von weitem sichtbar ist. Hier ist es nochmal recht steil zum Schluss. Autoverkehr gibt es wenig, allerdings kommt man schwer aneinander vorbei weil die Straße nicht sehr breit ist.
