Terrible climb. The only advantage is that it is quiet. The damage to the streets is great and dangerous for the descent.

Vreselijke klim.

Mighty steep climb that just doesn't seem to end. Done on a sunny summer evening. Very little traffic. Quiet course so. Ideal for a good look-off.

Heel weinig verkeer. Rustige baan dus. Ideaal om eens goed af te zien.

The Heidi Alm means toil and toil from the 1st metre. The beautiful views come only in the final section. Unfortunately, it was cold & drizzly, so getting to the summit was mainly about quickly taking some photos'and starting the (wet) descent. Definitely did not forget to pass by the small lake just before the summit.

Falkertsee, a little lake on top, a small ski area where it is home to Heidi und Peter.
Below is a mega big statue of Heidi, so it could be a nice friendly climb.
When my cycling buddy suggested this climb, I thought, what should I do with a 6 km climb one day, we'll do two or three in the neighbourhood.
When I saw the profile, I got a different idea. 9.9% average over 7 km is not a breakfast climb.
As he is much slower than me I let him take a 15 minute lead. Unfortunately after the first turn I was already behind him. The first kilometer is on 14%....
After about 4 kilometres of suffering you come to a resort with luxurious wooden alpine houses, where the rich of the world stay during the holidays, very relaxed and luxurious. I drove on and enjoying the view to my right I could see it was going up fast. The worst was yet to come, although you don't notice it. The forest slowly gives way and there's even an S-curve... The road is good and there is not much traffic, but you see the 10% and more going up in front of you and it is still 2 kilometers. Then, when you almost give up, the mountain god does a little more and you see 13, 14 and even 16% passing by. I didn't know that you can make warm asphalt stick to the ground on such steep terrain...
Once at the top, you can relax a bit and find a place at the lake, some shade, a strudel and a drink and forget about the torture to Heidi!
