In 2016 this was on my route from Radstadt but once I got to the toll booth it was already raining and thunderstorms were predicted. The lady in the booth advised not to go as you are so exposed to the elements for 35km. Unfortunately downhill to Gmund and via the 99 through to the Wortersee.
In 2018 it was now the 6th day of my roadtrip from Oosterhout to the Wortersee, I would leave from Tweng, first over the Schonfeldsattel and then the Nockalmstrasse. It was raining young dogs and then there is little to climb and descend 30 kilometers before you start this climb, my wife drove me around the mountain and dropped me off at the start.
When you have passed the toll booth you turn to the right and very soon you are out of sight of everyone and everything. The first 10 km are nice, no real climbs and you can enjoy the plain and the peace. Every now and then a motorbike flies by but it's still great. The next few kilometers are a bit more difficult but still nice, no 10+ pieces and you have a view over everything. Once at the top, a photo't and a drink. Soon on to the next top at the Glocknerhutte and then down to the south entrance.
If you really want to go broke turn left towards TurracherHöhe or right and after a few kilometers still "even" to the Heidialm (6 km at 9.9％)

In 2016 stond deze op mijn route vanuit Radstadt maar toen ik eenmaal bij het tolhuisje was regende het al en er was onweer voorspelt. De dame in het hokje adviseerde iet te gaan want je bent dus 35 km blootgesteld aan de elementen. Helaas afdalen naar Gmund en via de 99 door naar de Wortersee.
In 2018 was het inmiddels de 6de dag van mijn roadtrip van Oosterhout naar de Wortersee, ik zou vertrekken vanuit Tweng, eerst de Schonfeldsattel over en dan de Nockalmstrasse. Het regende jonge honden en dan is er weinig aan om 30 kilometer te klimmen en dalen alvorens je aan deze klim begint, mijn vrouw heeft me om de berg heen gereden en me met de auto afgezet aan de start.
Als je het tolhokje voorbij bent draai je naar rechts en je bent al erg snel uit het zicht van alles en iedereen. De eerste 10 kilometer lopen lekker geen echte klimpartijen en je geniet van de vlakte en de rust. Af en toe een motor die voorbij vliegt maar het blijft heerlijk. De komende kilometers zijn iets pittiger maar het blijft lekker, geen 10％ plus stukken en je hebt overal over en uitzicht. Eenmaal boven een foto'tje en een drankje. Gauw door naar de volgende top bij de Glocknerhutte en dan afdalen naar de zuidingang.
Als je echt stuk wil gaan draai je dan naar links richting TurracherHöhe of rechtsaf en na een paar kilometer nog "even" naar de Heidialm ( 6 km aan 9.9％)
Ergo een mooi klimgebied in een mooi land.
