I like short, explosive climbs so was looking forward to doing this one. Bike path along the stone road is already on the side of the slope, so no need to cross or anything. Just make sure you start the climb with the right gear, though. Narrow tarmac road to the top. In the beginning there is another pit and gutter in the middle of the roadway. Only took me about half a minute to give up on this climb. Especially the last bit kinks up a bit more. But the climb is short enough that you don't stall.
Road is so narrow that you hope you don't meet an oncoming car.
At the top you can enjoy a wide view of Gelrode and its surroundings.
Has become one of my favourite slopes in the area anyway.

Hidden between Aarschot and Gelrode lies the Eikelberg, an unknown stretch of perfect asphalt with double the gradient. In itself a nice thing, but the approach is not ideal: the busy Aarschotsesteenweg is best avoided.

A beautiful wall because that is the last 100 meters.
You have to drive up next to a house (it looks like the driveway of the house but it is signposted Eikelberg) a very narrow asphalt road and immediately you drive between the trees of a beautiful forest. The first 100 meters are pleasant but then it is push through. It is short but intense and at the top you have to follow the road to the right and you will arrive in Gelrode. With the mountain bike you can also go left. Beware of the descent because there is often water on the track and the road of the descent is renewed (the cobblestones are gone and there is asphalt).
Definitely worth it if you're in the neighborhood.
