Een van de beklimmingen om van Route du Val-Dieu richting Charneux te rijden waarbij deze met een lengte van 1½ kilometer toch een aanrader is. Als je aan de klim begint mag je de eerste 500 meter gelijk aan de bak met dubbele cijfers als stijgingspercentage. De volgende 500 meter vlakt het wat af en kan je jezelf voorbereiden op het laatste weer steiler wordende deel van de klim. Dit begint vlak voor de splitsing met Cerfontaine. Als je meer in de openheid komt heb je links uitzicht op het Croix de Charneux.

Prettige klim in een prachtige omgeving. Direct aan de voet krijg je al een mooi zicht op waar het naartoe gaat. Goed asfalt, maar wel her en der split op de weg, dus opgepast!
This does come highly recommended. Narrow, sheltered and tough start after which the landscape opens up a bit and you are treated to beautiful views and the cross at the top. The percentages get a bit easier here too so you can enjoy the scenery a bit more.
Dit is wel een aanrader hoor. Smal, beschut en pittig begin waarna het landschap wat opener wordt en je getrakteerd wordt op mooie uitzichten en het kruis op de top. De percentages worden hier ook wat makkelijker zodat je nog wat beter van de omgeving kan genieten.
A delightful climb over mostly excellent tarmac (only in the last stretch some worse spots), in beautiful surroundings and with decent views at the top (at the Croix de Charneux). The climb starts off nice and snappy after which it stops for a while. A little further on, it goes steadily up again but at a slightly lower percentage. Very quiet road. Popular with cyclists by the looks of it, and rightly so.
Een heerlijke klim over grotendeels uitstekend asfalt (alleen in het laatste stukje wat slechtere plekken), in een mooie omgeving en met flink uitzicht op de top (bij het Croix de Charneux). De klim begint lekker pittig waarna deze even ophoudt. Iets verderop gaat het weer gestaag omhoog maar dan in een wat lager percentage. Heel rustig weggetje verder. Populair bij wielrenners zo te zien, en terecht.

Headwinds can be a spoilsport if you want to push on. Wind is a factor anyway on the relatively open, rolling plains of Hervé country.
A climb to take if you are exploring this area or if you are passing through between Slenaken and Hervé or the Vesdre. This is an alternative for the climb to the cross ("Croix de Charneux") via La Cour. And like many "côtes" around Val-Dieu, located in a quiet, beautiful area.

Eerste trap is steil, beschut, en na een stukje dalen gaat ie over in een loper in open landschap. Tegenwind kan een spelbreker zijn als je wilt doorpakken. Wind is zowiezo een factor op de relatief open, glooiende vlakten van land van Hervé.
Een klim om mee te nemen als je deze omgeving verkent of als je op doorreis bent tussen Slenaken en Hervé of de Vesdre. Dit is een alternatief voor de klim naar het kruis ("Croix de Charneux") via La Cour. En zoals vele "côtes" rond Val-Dieu, gelegen in een rustige, fraaie omgeving.
