A fairly easy pass, on a very quiet road in a pretty valley at the foot of the Margériaz. The first part is rolling, with an irregular but never steep gradient as far as Aillon-le-Vieux. The road is generally good, despite a stretch of rough tarmac with a low yield. Then a slight descent to Aillon-le-Jeune, before tackling the final section, which rises but remains very accessible. As with the rest of the route, the views from the pass are pleasant. This pleasant pass can be done as an out-and-... read more

The road is generally good, despite a stretch of rough tarmac with a low yield. Then a slight descent to Aillon-le-Jeune, before tackling the final section, which rises but remains very accessible. As with the rest of the route, the views from the pass are pleasant. This pleasant pass can be done as an out-and-back on both sides or combined with one of the many pleasant, rolling passes in the vicinity (Leschaux, Plainpalais, Frêne, Marocaz) for a superb loop through the Bauges.

Also done with a 15kg pannier. Super pleasant road, virtually no traffic even though it was Sunday afternoon. Very good quality pavement and the scenery is nothing to write home about...
