Col de Labays from Lourdios, beautiful climb, certainly worthwhile in my opinion. In any case, if you like variety in landscape/view, the first part in a narrow valley with high imposing rock walls, and later through the woods further up. Also in terms of gradient it is not boring for a moment. From the beginning, steep parts are alternated with flat ones, or down again, and then suddenly steep up again. I totally agree with RvR. Last year it had fresh chip and seal and I didn’t recommend it but now it’s settled and makes for good climbing. It meets with d441 and a left there (or if you return for the descent) you can go to Osse en Aspe which is beautiful. Or at the top, go left and climb the remainder of Col de la Pierre-St Matin. That’s what I did yesterday and then rode the descent of La Pierre to Arrete to take advantage of the road surface for a hair raising descent

If you like a steady climb, this is definitely not the place to be.
The road surface is ok, it was reasonably quiet, only a handful of cyclists along the way.
The view of the col itself is nothing, you'd better cycle on to the col de Soudet (4 km further on) for the beautiful views.
