Op de gehele klim is het op deze typische Belgische weg met gaten, hobbels en scheuren wel zaak alert te blijven. Na het laatste stuk van de klim daal je wat af en kom je vlak voor de grens net onder de top op het steilste deel van Rue de Vaals uit.

The better alternative to the main road just east. You come out at the same point (Pass of the Wolfhaag) but this climb brings adventure. Narrow, bad road surface, steep in places and beautiful views. A real Walloon experience just at the Dutch border.
Het betere alternatief voor de doorgaande weg net ten oosten. Je komt op het zelfde punt uit (Pas van de Wolfhaag) maar deze klim brengt avontuur mee. Smal, slecht wegdek, steil op plaatsen en mooi uitzicht. Een echte Waalse ervaring net tegen de Nederlandse grens aan.
This climb is quite a killer. To get to the start you have to climb from Gemmenich as well as from Sippenaeken and as soon as you enter the Chemin du Duc you get bad tarmac and steep percentages. After that the percentages fluctuate considerably so that you are constantly busy, also to use the least bad parts of the asphalt. After a tough stretch a small descent to the Rue de Vaals, where you take the upper - and therefore steepest - part.
It's a nice and quiet place with nice views over Gemmenich.
Deze klim is best wel een sloper. Om bij het begin te komen moet je zowel vanuit Gemmenich als vanuit Sippenaeken al flink klimmen en zodra je de Chemin du Duc inrijdt krijg je slecht asfalt en flinke percentages om de oren. Daarna fluctueren de percentages behoorlijk zodat je continue bezig bent, ook om de minst slechte stukken van het asfalt te gebruiken. Na een pittig stukje een kleine afdaling naar de Rue de Vaals, waar je het bovenste - en dus steilste - stuk van meepakt.
Wel heerlijk rustig en fraaie uitzichten over Gemmenich.
Like the others said: bad road surface with gravel. Nice and quiet though and something else than the 'big road' back to the border. You should definitely take it if you are in the neighbourhood, no not really but nice to ride as an alternative.
Zoals de anderen al zeggen: slecht wegdek met grind. Wel lekker rustig en een keer wat anders dan de 'grote weg' weer naar de grens. Moet je 'm zeker meepakken als je in de buurt bent, nee niet echt maar wel leuk om als alternatief een keer op te rijden.
A much calmer climb to the Wolfhaag pass than the main road from Gemmenich. Nice view of Gemmenich and the Preuswald. You cycle along the Vijlenerbos for a while. The road surface is rather bad and I would not descend. It's a bit steep at the beginning, but not much else. At the end you turn left and then it's only a short distance to the Pas van Wolfhaag where you enter the Netherlands again.
Een duidelijk rustiger beklimming naar de Pas van Wolfhaag dan de doorgaande weg vanuit Gemmenich. Mooi zicht op Gemmenich en het Preuswald. Je fietst een stukje langs het Vijlenerbos. Het wegdek is vrij slecht en ik zou er ook niet afdalen. In het begin wat steil, maar valt verder mee. Op het einde sla je linksaf en dan is het nog maar kort over de grote goed asfalteerde doorgaande weg naar de Pas van Wolfhaag waar je Nederland weer in fietst.
Last year I came here as a descent to climb from Gemmenich back to the border triangle. The tarmac is really bad, it was searching for the tarmac between the holes. With some steep short parts in it, no fun to descend. Seems to me as a climb even difficult.
Hier vorig jaar beland als afdaling om vanuit Gemmenich weer naar het drielandenpunt te klimmen. Het asfalt is wel echt heel slecht, het was zoeken naar het asfalt tussen de gaten. Met dan wat steile korte stukjes er in, geen pretje om af te dalen. Lijkt me als klim zelfs lastig.
Road surface is not great, for the rest a short and intense climb. Nice to tackle in the run-up to the Vaalserberg from the Belgium side. Turn right at the top, descend through the village and turn left at the bottom (Rue de trois frontieres).
Wegdek houdt niet over, voor de rest een kort en intensief klimmetje. Leuk om mee te pakken in aanloop naar de Vaalserberg vanaf Belgische zijde. Sla hiervoor bovenaan rechtsaf, daal door het dorp heen en pak onderdaan linksaf(Rue de trois frontieres).
