This is probably the toughest way up to Alto da Groba. There is quite a bit of tree cover and shade, useful if it’s a hot day. The road surface is okay and it would be usual to see a car on the road until you join the larger road that takes you across the plateau to the final climb of the wonderfully named double switchbacks called the “devil’s elbow”. The views are stunning, especially of Vigo bay from the top. Take care as there are lots of free range animals: ponies, cows, goats.
There is nothing at the top, but it’s a fairly quick descent to the lovely sea side town of Baiona to refuel.
