If you're looking for long climbs near Winterberg, you'll soon end up with this one. You can make it even longer by continuing to the top of the Kahler Asten. This climb is very variable in terms of percentages and therefore feels a bit less like a whole. The asphalt is good, the road wide, quite a lot of traffic but it doesn't really bother you. I personally liked the similar long climb from Winkhausen better because you feel more like cycling through a (narrow) valley and it is ... read more

Pleasant climb that leads through a beautiful valley and passes through the pretty village of Nordenau. Immediately before Nordenau, there is some climbing but after the village there is a long relaxing descent after which the real climb begins. The road winds uphill mainly through forest with some views at the top. Through Altastenberg it is a short climb before you reach the highest point. Good connecting road with great tarmac and not too much traffic.
