This was a very special trip, I did it from Tardets/Alcabehety, to Ahusquy, and via the cols Aphanize and Landerre down to Behorleguy, St Jean Pied de Port. The whole uphill section between Ahusquy Aphanize Landerre is a kind of plateau where I haven't met a person (let alone another cyclist). Total silence, and quite a few birds of prey (don't know which ones you see so much here) flying around above me now and then. Watch out in the descent to Behorleguy, it goes fast, the road surface is not always good, and out of the blue there were a couple of horses in front of me, so I had to brake hard.
But to sum up: if you are in for something else than a standard popular bike col, this is a good option!
