Abbazia di Montecassino from Cassino

Beautiful climb -- longish with hairpins but never gets that steep. Stays more or less at 5％ the entire time. Lots of panoramic stopping points along the way with great views of the flats around it. There was little traffic when I ascended in January 2022 -- prob more in summer but prob stays ok. You can't bring your bike inside the abbey at the top of the hill but I left mine (unlocked!) next to the security guard at the entrance to the parking lot, he said he'd watch for me. The abbey inside is beautiful and worth a quick walk -- I bought a bottle of amaro made by the monks inside.

The descent is great if you like going fast because you don't have a hairpin every sec to slow you down, and good visibility all around.

Note: I was warned it can get quite foggy up here but the day I went up had a perfect blue sky.
