This climb is really only a prelude to the Aston Hill climb, but it is often completed by people riding between Tring and Wendover. E.g. I've done it close to 200 times. There are some good views towards Aston Hill from the lower parts, but it's not a very exciting climb, and there is traffic, so you wouldn't make a special journey to do it, only if you were planning to go up Aston Hill as well, or if it's part of your route to more exciting places. In defence of the climb, let me say that the whole section of Upper Icknield Way, starting near Tring, passing through Wendover and Ellesborough, and finishing at Great Kimble, is a good undulating route that is fun to ride, when taken as a totality. That stretch does divide opinions, but it's one of the best routes along the foot of the Chilterns, IMHO.
