Underbarrow Road from Kendal

By far the best route heading west from Kendal. Beast Banks is a challenging climb on its own right, and has been a finish for the Tour of Britain a few times. But you've still got a long way to go. A brief easing of the gradient past the green. Then up it goes again, past a restored lime kiln. It finally relents past the quarry entrance and a new housing estate. But don't celebrate too early... Descend over the dual carriageway and then immediately hit more climbing.
