The climb to the Umbrail pass from Bormio is basically the same as the climb to the Stelvio. You just stop a bit earlier. If the top of the Stelvio is not your goal, this is definitely recommended, with slightly less altitude metres. The descent on the Swiss side is a wonderful reward for all the climbing, and with a small loop can be combined with the Stelvio climb from Prad.
