This is the type of climb the average cyclist dreams of (or has nightmares?). The surface is the typical white gravel as we know it from the Strade Bianche. You leave fairly close to riding into picturesque Bagno Vignoni. As you turn right, you immediately know what time it is. The gradients stay in the double digits. If you have any energy left to look around, be sure to do so because the surroundings are truly beautiful. Right out of a picture book of Tuscan landscapes. Traffic is not impossible but is almost non-existent except for hikers and cyclists following the via Francigena. When you are almost there it finally levels off and there is a steep descent where you have to be quite careful. I can't say much bad about the climb, except perhaps that you have to cross a busy connecting road for about a km to reach Bagno Vignoni (unless you come down the climb first and then return).
