Challenging climb but virtually traffic-free. There is a fountain shortly after the Saxel exit for refilling water bottles. Take a lock if you want to leave your bike in the monastery car park and walk the last few metres to the Signal; it's worth a look!

Everyone just takes de Saxel col but if you want to punish your legs go up to the monastery/signal des Voirons, it’s surprisingly painful with a 14％ piece in it and unfriendly all the way - however very few cars! The lake views from the descend are the best in les Voirons
