A fine climb with some moderate sections to help you recover. A large part of the ascent is made in the shade of the forest, then the mountain pastures are uncovered and the views are magnificent! A classic of the region, a must-do!
Une belle ascension avec des passages modérés qui permettent la récupération. Une grande partie de la montée se fait à l'ombre de la forêt puis les alpages à découvert et des vues magnifiques ! Un classique de la région, à faire !!
Climbed on a very hot day; large part of the climb fine to do as you are still sheltered by the trees a lot. As the profile shows: snappy start, gentle middle section and long section steep. Last 2 km little to no shade, making it a mental battle to the top on a hot day. Advisable to cycle to the top first and descend slightly back to the restaurant for a snack and/or drink before continuing your ride.
Op een erg warme dag beklommen; groot gedeelte van de klim prima te doen, omdat je nog veel beschut bent door de bomen. Zoals het profiel laat zien: pittig begin, rustig middenstuk en lang gedeelte steil. Laatste 2 kilometer weinig tot geen schaduw meer waardoor het op een warme dag nog even een mentaal gevecht tot de top is. Raadzaam om eerst naar de top te fietsen en klein stukje terug af te dalen naar het restaurant voor een hapje en/of drankje om je rit te vervolgen.
Ascent in 3 stages. The first, as you leave the town, is fairly steady for 2 km. Then we enter the forest where the gradients are much gentler for 4-5 km. We continue into the forest but the gradients become more difficult between 8 and 10 ％ to the summit. At the top there is a magnificent view of Lake Annecy and Mont Blanc.
Ascension en 3 temps. Le premier en sortant de la ville assez soutenu pendant 2 km. Ensuite, on rentre dans la forêt ou les pourcentages sont beaucoup plus doux pendant 4-5 kms. On continue toujours dans la forêt mais la les pourcentages deviennent plus difficile entre 8 et 10 ％ jusqu'au sommet. En haut la vue est magnifique sur le Lac d'Annecy ainsi que du Mont Blanc.
long climb but one that went by rather quickly for my part... the change to 2.3％ really makes you happy and then it's up to you and yourself... did a foggy day so I can't talk about the view....
montée longue mais qui est passée plutôt vite pour ma part... le passage à 2,3％ fait vraiment plaisir et ensuite se sera entre vous et vous même... fais un jour de brouillard donc je ne peux pas parler de la vue....

The road surface is pretty decent.
Beginning in Annecy difficult to find,then whole section through the forest,asphalt is good but rough,few views and curves so it is all the time working and looking at computer.Last 3 km's you come out of the forest,into the meadows and see the beautiful surroundings.At the top very nice view of the Alps
Begin in Annecy moeilijk te vinden,dan heel gedeelte door het bos,asfalt is goed maar loopt stroef,weinig uitzichten en bochten waardoor het de hele tijd werken is en kijken naar computertje.En redelijk druk door verkeer.Laatste 3 km's kom je uit het bos,in de weiden en zie je de prachtige omgeving.Op de top heel mooi zicht op de Alpen
Nice long climb to have done when in the area. Asphalt is reasonable, some sections a bit less but no problems experienced. Can be crowded with motorbikes on some days. Unfortunately, it was foggy on the day I was there (late May) so didn't get to enjoy much of the view.
Leuke lange klim om gedaan te hebben wanneer je in de buurt bent. Asfalt is redelijk, sommige stukken wat minder maar geen problemen ervaren. Kan op sommige dagen druk zijn met motoren. Helaas was het mistig op de dag dat ik er was (eind mei) dus weinig van het uitzicht kunnen genieten.
Na de (stevige) combinatie van twee cols van 2e categorie tot de top van de Semnoz wilde ik het ook eens in één trek doen. Vertrek dus in Annecy, waardoor het begin nog druk is qua verkeer. Later had ik trouwens nog best wat verkeer, waaronder enkele Franse nozems die zich op een F1-parcours waanden.
In het bos is de startfase bij momenten best pittig, in een haarspeld gaf mijn Garmin 15％ aan. Gelukkig is er in het tweede kwart een lopender stuk, wat de benen wat zuurstof geeft.
Halfweg - na 9 kilometer - begint het tweede en veel steilere deel. De percentages komen in de buurt van het bos van Bédoin, al geven de bomen veel koelte en schaduw. Eenmaal in het skistation is het nog even hard doorduwen voorbij het café tot de echte top een 200 meter verder.
In het café kan je je bidon overigens niet laten vullen (tenzij met flessenwater). Op een bord staat dat ze geen stromend water hebben en dus ook geen karaf water geven. Mogelijk spoelen ze het toilet met Vittel.
The longer it takes, the higher it goes! The arrival at the top is always a pleasure because the view never disappoints!

A really tough climb. The small plateau in the middle is a necessary relief for the percentages that still await you. Start of the climb quite busy at the lake, but very quickly up through the forest. The track is quite wide so there is not much shade from the trees here. The last part goes through a more barren landscape. Enjoy the view over Lac d´Annecy and Mont Blanc when you reach the top!
Echt een zware klim. Het plateautje in het midden is een nodige verademing voor de percentages die je nog te wachten staan. Start van de klim vrij druk aan het meer, maar heel snel rustig door het bos omhoog. De baan is vrij breed dus veel schaduw van de bomen krijg je hier niet. Het laatste deel gaat door een kaler landschap. Geniet van het uitzicht over Lac d´Annecy en de Mont Blanc wanneer je boven bent!
At the departure of Annecy we go immediately into a very pretty forest that we leave only at the very end.
The percentages are quite regular, it is especially the mental one which suffers: the road is practically straight from the beginning to the end, surrounded by fir trees, without milestones, without any reference mark it becomes difficult to say if we rolled 1km or 10km or to fix ourselves objectives.
When we finally get out of the forest we discover the ski resort tracks, but the effort is not over, there are still 2-3kms with high percentage that finish the legs. But the view at the top is worth it.
The road is wide and well maintained, which does not prevent some hurried motorists from brushing past the cyclists, especially in winter when the resort is open.
I advise to take a well-deserved break at the animal park to approach some magnificent fallow deer.
Au départ d'Annecy on s'enfonce tout de suite dans une forêt très jolie qu'on ne quitte qu'à la toute fin.
Les pourcentages sont assez réguliers, c'est surtout le mental qui souffre : la route est pratiquement droite du début à la fin, entouré de sapins, sans bornes, sans aucun repère il devient difficile de dire si l'on a roulé 1km ou 10km ou de se fixer des objectifs.
Quand on arrive enfin à sortir de la forêt on découvre les pistes de la station de ski, mais l'effort n'est pas terminé, il y a encore 2-3kms à fort pourcentage qui finissent les jambes. Mais la vue au sommet en vaut le coup.
La route est large et entretenue, ce qui n’empêche pas certains automobilistes pressés de frôler les cyclistes, surtout en période hivernale quand la station est ouverte.
Je conseille de faire une petite pause bien méritée au parc animalier pour approcher de magnifiques daims.
A climb that is mainly fun to 'have done' and less fun to 'do'. Long in the woods, and when you come out first a (not so nice) ski area with toboggan run. Views at the top make up for a lot in clear weather. But it is still satisfying to have done this tough col.
Descended to Leschaux. First kilometer bad tarmac, then variable quality. Despite this I was able to keep going, because the worse parts are well signposted. If there was good asphalt everywhere, then you could whiz down wonderfully. Fortunately, there is much work on the road on that stretch.
Do not be surprised by the relatively mild ascents in the first part of the climb. Here, there are mostly flat plateaus, which means that the percentages are almost in double digits every kilometre. Pretty irregular climb.
Een klim die vooral leuk is om ‘gedaan te hebben’ en minder leuk om ‘te doen’. Lang in het bos, en als je eruit komt eerst een (niet zo mooi) skigebied met rodelbaan. Uitzichten op de top maken bij helder weer een hoop goed. Maar het geeft toch voldoening om deze pittige col geklaard te hebben.
Afgedaald naar Leschaux. Eerste kilometer erbarmelijk asfalt, daarna van wisselende kwaliteit. Kon desondanks goed doorrijden, omdat de slechtere stukken goed met borden worden aangegeven. Lag overal goed asfalt, dan zou je heerlijk naar beneden kunnen zoeven. Er wordt gelukkig veel aan de weg gewerkt op dat stuk.
Verkijk je niet op de relatief milde stijgingspercentages in het eerste deel van de klim. Hier is veelal sprake van vlakke plateaus, waardoor de percentages toch bijna elke kilometer weer even in de dubbel cijfers schieten. Vrij onregelmatige klim.
The foot of the climb is a bit shaky, as it is still in the town of Annecy, but we leave it quickly enough to go into the forest. A fairly easy but long climb, with a beautiful view of Lake Annecy at the top!

Pied de l'ascension un peu bancal , car encore dans la ville d'Annecy, mais qu'on quitte assez rapidement pour s'enfoncer dans la forêt. Montée assez roulante mais longue, avec au sommet une très belle vue sur le lac d'Annecy !

Beautiful climb, also beautiful that you start directly from Annecy with a sloping road. First through the forest, then through the forest for a while and once you're out of there you long back because it's very hot and under the trees you had at least cooling. The views along this climb are very diverse in my opinion, especially at the top. The top is poorly signposted though (at least it was in 2018) with a simple sign to the right of the road. Because it is relatively flat there, you could just cycle past it. Beautiful views on top and a lovely descent to the Col du Leschaux. If you turn left there, you will have another 11 km of nice downhill to Sevrier. A nice downhill means to me 3-4％ continuously, then you can let the bike roll, few brakes and few cramps in your hands. Anyway: the climb is highly recommended, I will definitely be back, then climb from the west/Quintal.
Prachtige klim, mooi ook dat je direct vanuit Annecy begint met hellende weg. Eerst door het bos, daarna nog een tijd door het bos en als je daar eenmaal uit bent verlang je ernaar terug want het is bloedheet en onder de bomen had je tenminste verkoeling. De uitzichten langs deze klim zijn heel diverse vond ik, zeker bovenaan. De top is wel slecht aangegeven (tenminste in 2018 wel) met een simpel bordje rechts langs de weg. Omdat het daar relatief vlak is, zou je er zo voorbij kunnen fietsen. Prachtig uitzicht bovenop en een heerlijke afdaling naar de Col du Leschaux. Als je daar linksaf slaat krijg je nog 11 kilometer lekker dalen naar Sevrier. Lekker dalen betekent bij mij continu 3-4％, dan kun je de fiets laten rollen, weinig remmen en weinig kramp in je handen. Enfin: de klim is een echte aanrader, ik kom er zeker terug, dan eens vanuit het westen/Quintal klauteren.

Ik heb deze klim bij mooi weer gedaan en dan heb je de laatste twee km contant uitzicht op de Mt Blanc.

Very nice climb. Little traffic, so you can really enjoy climbing alone. From 2-3km from the top you will be rewarded with beautiful views (in clear weather even on Mont Blanc). 2nd part of this col is quite heavy with an average of 8 to 9％.
Zeer leuke klim. Weinig verkeer, waardoor je echt lekker alleen kunt klimmen. Vanaf 2-3km van de top wordt je beloond met prachtige vergezichten (bij helder weer zelfs op Mont Blanc). 2e deel van deze col is best hevig met gemiddeld 8 a 9％.

Nice climb if you are on holiday in Annecy. Much through the forest, so in the shade if you leave in time. Not so many bends and many changes in gradient. Along the lake you can cycle perfectly warm. It was quiet in the morning, despite high season. Because of the length and variation the climb is tough. Descent along Leschaux partly new asphalt, but also old asphalt with worse parts.
Leuke klim als je in Annecy op vakantie bent. Veel door het bos, dus in de schaduw als je op tijd vertrekt. Niet zoveel bochten en veel wisselingen in stijging. Langs het meer kun je perfect warm fietsen. Het was rustig in de ochtend, ondanks hoogseizoen. Door de lengte en variatie wel zware klim. Afdaling langs Leschaux gedeeltelijk nieuw asfalt, maar ook nog oud asfalt met slechtere stukjes.
Quiet road, wienig traffic at most 10 cars passed. Good road surface. Very nice climb first part is very variable gradient. Second part steep and remains steep, I love it.
Rustige weg, wienig verkeer hooguit 10 auto's voorbij gekomen. Goed wegdek. Zeer mooie beklimming eerste gedeelte is zeer varieert stijgingspercentage. Tweede gedeelte stijl en blijft stijl, I love it.
That this climb only gets 1 thumb is really beyond me.
Especially if you drive in the direction of Seynod. The first part starts fine, and then you have quite a bit of false flat and you come along a kind of school or scouting place. Then you go in 1 jolt towards the top. At the top you pass a toboggan run and from the top you have a beautiful view over the lake of Annecy and on a clear day on Mont Blanc. From me he may certainly get 4 thumbs up and I agree with Daniel.
Dat deze klim maar 1 duimpje krijgt daar snap ik echt NIETS van.
Zeker als je de kant oprijd vanaf Seynod. Het eerste deel begint prima, en daarna heb je best een stukje vals plat en kom je langs een soort van school of scoutingplaats. Daarna ga je wel in 1 ruk richting de top. Bovenop kom je nog langs een rodelbaan en vanaf de top heb je een prachtig uitzicht over het meer van Annecy en bij helder weer op de Mont Blanc. Van mij mag hij zeker ook 4 duimen krijgen en ben het dus met Daniel eens.
Nice long climb. Start from Annecy steep, then in the middle kilometers of 2-3 percent and then the last 5 between 8-9 percent. Especially on hot days, this is a nice climb because the last 2 km is sheltered. At 1600 meters it is a lot colder. May have four thumbs up from me. (Who determines these thumbs actually)
Lekker lange klim. Begin vanuit Annecy steil, daarna in het midden kilometers van 2-3 procent en dan de laatste 5 tussen de 8-9 procent. Zeker op warme dagen is dit een fijne klim omdat het tot de laatste 2 kilometer beschut is. Op 1600 meter hoogte is het daar toch een stuk kouder. Mag van mij vier duimen hebben. (Wie bepaalt die duimen eigenlijk)
From Annecy a nice climb. At the top there is nothing to do in September. Descent (back to Annecy) is clear. But beware of the (occasionally) bad road surface.
Vanuit Annecy een leuke klim. Op de top is er in september niets meer te beleven. Afdaling (weer naar Annecy) is overzichtelijk. Maar let op het (af en toe) slechte wegdek.
Just cycled this climb! Start reasonable if you start from Annecy. Intermediate part is nice to recover and then bang to the top. You cycle mainly through the forest and only at 2 km from the top you get nice views. The descent I went on the D241 to come out again in Seynod. This side is really a lot easier
Zojuist deze klim gefietst! Start redelijk als je vanuit annecy start. Tussenstuk is lekker om even bij te komen en daarna knallen tot aan de top. Je fiets voornamelijk door het bos en pas op 2 km van de top krijg je mooie uitzichten. De afdaling ben ik die de D241 gegaan om weer uit te komen in Seynod. Deze kant is wel echt een stuk makkelijker
Did this climb at the end of July. Start more or less from the city of Annecy. First 7 km is quite easy. The second part is significantly harder and especially the part after the forest is, with wind, difficult. Rating is far too low for this still quite nice climb. Deserves certainly 3 stars.
Eind juli deze klim gedaan. Start min of meer vanuit de stad Annecy. Eerste 7 km is vrij eenvoudig. Het tweede deel is beduidend zwaarder en zeker het deel na het bos is, met wind, lastig. Waardering is veel te laag voor deze toch best mooie klim. Verdient zeker 3 sterren.
Cycled up from Annecy on 15 August 2018 . A tough climb. Not as heavy as Mont Ventoux but still a calf biter. Descent via Leschaux(for the first time 'climbed' a col in a descent. Climb to Semnoz indeed more than 1 thumb. 3 or 4 more in place.
Op 15 augustus 2018 opgefietst vanuit Annecy . Pittige klim. Niet zo zwaar als Mont Ventoux maar wel kuitenbijter. Afdaling via Leschaux(voor het eerst een col ‘beklommen’ in een afdaling. Klim naar Semnoz idd meer dan 1 duimpje. 3 of 4 meer op zijn plaats.
Did this climb in mid-July. Was very hot, which made it spicy. The steepest part you have before the climb really begins. From the roundabout at Annecy it goes up steeply, at the next roundabout you turn left and then it slows down a bit. Shortly after you see the 1st sign, still 16 km. Road surface is very good. Climb is just good to do. A few days later I did this climb again but then early in the morning and that made a difference. As for me 3 or 4 thumbs.
Midden juli deze beklimming gedaan. Was zeer warm, dat maakte het pittig. Het steilste stuk heb je voordat de klim pas echt begint. Vanaf de rotonde bij Annecy gaat het stijl omhoog, bij de volgende rotonde ga je links af en dan zwakt het een stukje af. Kort daarna zie je het 1e bordje staat, nog 16 km. Wegdek is zeer goed. Klim is gewoon goed te doen. Een paar dagen later deze beklimming weer gedaan maar toen 'sochtends vroeg en dat maakte veel uit. Wat mij betreft idd 3 of 4 duimen.
A fantastic climb that, in my opinion, is worth 4 thumbs up. It's a long and steady climb which allows you to get into a good rhythm. The devil is in the last few kilometers. Most of the climb you ride through a beautiful forest and the view once you reach the top is impressive with views of Lake Annecy and Mont Blanc in the distance. Today I took the same route both up and down, the one to and from Annecy. The road is generally good but it remains with descending always careful.
Een fantastische klim die, naar mijn mening, zeker wel 4 duimen waard is. Het is een lange en regelmatige klim waardoor je goed in je ritme kunt komen. Het vernijn zit wel een beetje in de laatste paar kilometers. Het grootste deel van de klim rijd je door een prachtig bos en het uitzicht eenmaal boven is indrukwekkend met uitzicht op het meer van Annecy en in de verte de Mont Blanc. Ik heb vandaag zowel op naar boven als beneden dezelfde route genomen, die van en naar Annecy. De weg is over het algemeen goed maar het blijft met afdalen altijd opletten.
Great climb, after the first 8 km it gets heavy. On top a nice tent where the kids were and after playing with them on the bouncy castle and a nice lunch we went down the other way and via leschaux.
Gave klim, na de eerste 8 km wordt ie goed zwaar. Bovenop fijn tentje waar de kids waren en na op t springkussen met ze gespeeld te hebben en een lekker lunch via de andere kant en dus ook via leschaux afgedaald
After climbing the Semnoz last week (see below) I climbed the Alp D'Huez yesterday.
I have to admit, the alp is amazing. Beautiful views, hairpin bends, cheers on the tarmac, the signs in the bends with stage winners. I understand the difference in thumbs up.
Nadat ik vorige week (zie hieronder) de Semnoz had beklommen heb ik gister de Alp D'Huez beklommen.
Ik moet eerlijk bekennen, de alp is geweldig. Prachtige uitzichten, haarspeldbochtjes, aanmoedigingen op het asfalt, de bordjes in de bochten met ritwinnaars. Ik snap het verschil in duimpjes wel.
Beautiful climb. I used to do the ventoux once. Since then, no climb done. I immediately said to my girlfriend that it is exactly the ventoux. Starts pretty hard, then a relatively easy part and then the last 8 km constant climbing at steep percentages. I managed to get up in an hour and still had one or two sprockets left.
Prachtige klim. Vroeger ooit eens de ventoux gedaan. Sindsdien geen beklimming meer gedaan. Ik zei ook onmiddellijk tegen mijn vriendin, dat het precies de ventoux is. Begint idd vrij stevig, dan een relatief makkelijk stuk om dan de laatste 8?km constant aan stevige percentages verder te klimmen. Al bij al makkelijk boven geraak op een uurt en had overal nog een tandwiel of 2 over.
I agree with the reactions below: I've done Semnoz several times now and every time it's a real ordeal. The comparison with the Ventoux I had not thought of myself, but I can certainly agree. It is just an unthinkable (in the positive sense!) to climb. I broke down, recovered and kept going. But when the sign 'sommet' is there... Wonderful feeling! Grabbed a coke, enjoyed the view and then slammed down! One thumb is indeed too little!
Ben het met onderstaande reacties eens: Semnoz inmiddels meerdere keren gedaan en elke keer weer een ware beproeving. De vergelijking met de Ventoux had ik zelf nog niet bedacht, maar kan me er zeker in vinden. Het is gewoon een onding (in de positieve zin!) om te beklimmen. Ik ben kapot gegaan, heb me herpakt en ben doorgegaan. maar als het bordje 'sommet' er dan is... heerlijk gevoel! Colaatje pakken, genieten van het uitzicht en daarna naar beneden knallen! Één duimpje is inderdaad te weinig!
Today we overcame the Semnoz. The stories below are true. From Annecy you take the roundabout and after 200m there is the sign 16km. Then hell begins.
I had trouble to get into the right rhythm at 8%.
Fortunately, after 3km there is a fairly flat part. You even go down a few meters. After that quiet 2 km you can have fun.
Because every km is marked how far and how much % is coming, this makes it a mental battle.
I noticed it especially after 8km, you are at the half way point but the mountain gives you successively 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 9, 9, 8, 9, 8% steepness. You feel that!
The last 3 km is relatively on the open plain, so make sure you are not too late on a hot day.
At the top you can enjoy the great view and of course see the Mont Blanc.

Vandaag de Semnoz overwonnen. De onderstaande verhalen zijn waar. Vanuit Annecy pak je de rotonde en na een 200m staat er het bordje 16km. Dan begint de hel.
Ik had moeite om gelijk met 8% in het ritme te komen.
Gelukkig zit er na 3km een redelijk vlak stuk in. Je gaat zelfs een paar meter weer naar beneden. Na die rustige 2 km kun je je lol op.
Omdat bij elke km staat aangegeven hoever en hoeveel % er aan komt maakt dit een mentale strijd.
Ik merkte het vooral na 8km, je zit dan op de helft maar de berg geeft je achtereenvolgend 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 9, 9, 8, 9, 8% steilte. Dat voel je!
De laatste 3 km is relatief op de open vlakte, zorg er dus voor dat je op een warme dag hier niet te laat bent.
Bovenaangekomen kun je van het heerlijke uitzicht genieten en uiteraard de Mont Blanc zien.

Just climbed the Semnoz on a downhill MTB without a motor and with soft tyres for the offroad descent. It took us 3 hours to do the climb and then we had a great technical descent.
Zojuist de Semnoz beklommen op een downhil MTB zonder motor en met zachte banden voor de offroad afdaling. 3 uur gedaan over de klim waarna we prachtig de technische afdaling konden nemen.
The Semnoz from Annecy is indeed a climb which should not be underestimated, with from km 6 to 7 a continuous battle against the steepness of 8 and 9 percent. Recuperation is hardly possible from then on. By the way, Dennis, the typical clear signs with the kilometers, the altitude and the gradients are there. They were there last year too. However, they only start after a 2 km climb from Annecy.
De Semnoz vanuit Annecy is inderdaad een niet te onderschatten klim, met vanaf km 6 à 7 een continu verbeten gevecht tegen de steiltes van 8 en 9 procent. Recuperatie vanaf dan is nauwelijks mogelijk. De typische duidelijke bordjes met de kilometers, de hoogte en de stijgingspercentages staan er trouwens wel, Dennis. Vorig jaar ook al, hoor. Ze beginnen echter pas ruim na 2 km stijgen vanuit Annecy.
During the climb of this giant, I got a flashback to the climb of the ventoux from Bedoin. The similarities are obvious. It also takes this climb emotionally an eternity before you're out of the woods. After the forest, the ski area follows, comparable with Reynard, after which it takes a few heavy kilometres before you reach the top. Top gives a fabulous view on the Mont Blanc in clear weather. Climb has everything to become legendary. For me it is incomprehensible that this climb with one thumb is appreciated. Just as it is incomprehensible that the climb from Annecy is not accompanied by signs and that from Leschaux is. Wouldn't the Tourist Office want the crowds on this side. Many mountains climbed, but count this one among my top 3! And now those thumbs up 'climbing time'.
Tijdens de beklimming van deze reus, kreeg ik een flashback naar de klim van de ventoux vanuit Bedoin. De overeenkomsten zijn overduidelijk. Het duurt ook bii deze klim gevoelsmatig een eeuwigheid voor je het bos uit bent. Na het bos volgt het skigebied vergelijkbaar met Reynard, waarna het nog een paar zware kilometers duurt voordat je de top bereikt. Top geeft bij helder weer een fabelachtig uitzicht op de mont blanc. Klim heeft alles om legendarisch te worden. Voor mij onbegrijpelijk dat deze klim met één duimpje wordt gewaardeerd. Zoals het eveneens onbegrijpelijk is dat de klim vanuit Annecy niet wordt begeleid door bordjes en die vanaf leschaux wel. Zou de office du tourisme de drukte niet wensen vanaf deze kant. Veel bergen beklommen, maar reken deze tot mijn top 3! En nu die duimpjes omhoog 'klimtijd'.

What a beautiful climb !!!
The climb starts even a bit earlier at a roundabout in Annecy when you come from the lake.
Immediately spicy, then an easier part of about three km, but then it doesn't stop with %s above 7%.
When you come out of the forest you are surprised by beautiful views and at the top it is good to stay.
And now that appreciation, at least 4 thumbs up ...
Wat een mooie beklimming !!!
De klim begint zelfs nog iets vroeger aan een rotonde in Annecy wanneer je van het meer komt.
Direct pittig, dan een makkelijker stuk van een drietal km, maar daarna stopt het niet meer met %s boven 7%.
Wanneer je uit het bos komt word je verrast door mooie uitzichten en op de top is het goed vertoeven.
En nu die waardering omhoog, zeker 4 duimen...
I really don't understand why this climb only gets one thumb in the rating, there should be more. Is just a nice climb with lots of curves in the part through the forest and once above the trees you look far away. At the top the view is fantastic with if the weather permits also the mont blanc in full glory. Descent in the beginning rather technical but after Leschaux indeed very easy with good tarmac and a wide road, nice to pedal so.
Snap echt niet dat deze klim maar een duimpje krijgt bij de waardering, moeten er echt meer zijn. Is gewoon een mooie klim met veel bochtjes in het gedeelte door het bos en eenmaal boven de bomen kijk je lekker ver weg. Op de top is het uitzicht helemaal fantastisch met als het weer het toelaat ook de mont blanc in volle glorie. Afdaling in het begin redelijk technisch maar na Leschaux inderdaad heel erg makkelijk met goed asfalt en een brede weg, lekker meetrappen dus.
Nice long running climb. Climb done after the forclaz, then to Annecy and then the semnoz. Then the last kilometers of 9% are pretty tough. But on top beautiful views and the possibility to drink and eat. In high season quite a lot of traffic. Descent very good to do nice gentle curves and not too steep.
Mooie lange lopende klim. Klim gedaan na de forclaz, toen naar Annecy en toen de semnoz. Dan zijn de laatste kilometers van 9% best pittig. Maar bovenop mooi uitzicht en de mogelijkheid om wat te drinken en eten. In hoogseizoen redelijk veel verkeer. Afdaling erg goed te doen mooi flauwe bochten en niet al te steil.
Very nice climb. First through the forest. Not many hairpin bends. Last kilometers fairly barren. (Ski areas and summer toboggan run) 2 days before I went there was still a thick pack of snow but was pretty much gone when I was up. Beautiful view over the Alphen with clear weather. Descent good to do especially last piece after Leschaux. Slight turns that can be taken with decent speed, very clear and good asphalt.
Zeer mooie klim. Eerst door het bos. Niet heel veel haarspeldbochten. Laatste kilometers redelijk kaal. (Skigebieden en zomerrodelbaan) 2 dagen voordat ik ging lag er nog een dik pak sneeuw maar was redelijk weg toen ik boven was. Schitterend uitzicht over de Alphen met helder weer. Afdaling goed te doen zeker laatste stuk na Leschaux. Flauwe bochten die met behoorlijke snelheid genomen kunnen worden, erg overzichtelijk en goed asfalt.
Already in my younger years I did this climb from Annecy. It is very treacherous: first quite steep, then easy with only 3-4% but last 6 kilometers very difficult. Very nice views, especially at the top but also just before the top with fantastic views on Lac d'Annecy. Definitely a must, is not much less than famous cols like Alpe d'Huez and Mont Ventoux.
Al in mijn jongere jaren deze klim gedaan vanaf Annecy. Hij is zeer verraderlijk: eerst behoorlijk steil, dan wat makkelijk met maar 3-4% maar laatste 6 kilometers zeer lastig. Zeer mooie uitzichten, zeker op de top maar ook even voor de top met fantastisch uitzicht op Lac d'Annecy. Zeker een aanrader, doet niet veel onder voor beroemde cols als Alpe d'Huez en Mont Ventoux.

Did the climb on August 28. Very nice and with pleasant weather to ride. Quite heavy, but definitely doable. The reward at the top is great with a view of Mont Blanc. Descent not too technical and good road surface. Recommended.
28 augustus de klim gedaan. Zeer mooi en bij aangenaam weer kunnen rijden. Behoorlijk zwaar, maar zeker te doen. De beloning op de top is geweldig met zicht op de Mont Blanc. Afdaling niet te technisch en goed wegdek. Aanrader.
I just did it; found it quite heavy (short route from the north side). I had the misfortune that exactly at the moment I got to the top a thunderstorm broke out and then the descent (couldn't see your hand in front of your face) is no fun. I think it is a nice ride with beautiful views, especially on a nice day.

heb hem net gedaan; vond hem behoorlijk zwaar (korte route vanaf de noordkant). Had de pech dat precies op het moment dat ik boven kwam er noodweer losbarstte en dan is de afdaling (kon geen hand meer voor ogen zien) geen pretje. Ik denk dat het vooral op een mooie dag een leuke rit is met mooie uitzichten.
