I make this ascent from the roundabout in Buczkowice.
I recommend choosing weekdays, as at weekends the drive through Szczyrk is breakneck and reduces the time possibilities.
The beginning up to the traffic lights is busy and rather fast. Later on, it starts to pick up. From the lifts, the ascent becomes more difficult. Unfortunately, it is mainly through forest, so the views are only at the top.
I recommend it because it is a nice long uphill for Polish conditions, the asphalt is good, the descent to Wisła is nice. The descent to Vistula is nice.
Ja ten podjazd robię od ronda w Buczkowicach.
Polecam wybierać dnie powszednie, gdyż w weekendy przejazd przez Szczyrk jest karkołomny i obniża możliwości czasowe.
Początek aż do świateł jest ruchliwy i raczej szybki. Później zaczyna nabierać rumieńców. Od wyciągów podjazd staje się już trudniejszy. Niestety jedzie się go głównie lasem więc widoki są dopiero na szczycie.
Polecam bo to fajny długi podjazd jak na Polskie warunki, asfalt jest dobry, zjazd na Wisłę miodzio. Od Wisły podjazd jest znacznie trudniejszy
The ascent starts lazily, but once you cross Szczyrk the lively climb begins. Beware of the large number of motorbikes especially in the upper section where the serpentines start. In general, a necessary climb to pass in the Silesian Voivodship
Podjazd zaczyna się leniwie, ale po przekroczeniu Szczyrku zaczyna się żwawa wspinaczka. Należy uważać na dużą ilość motorów zwłaszcza w górnym odcinku, gdzie zaczynają się serpentyny. Ogólnie podjazd konieczny do zaliczenia w woj. Śląskim
The pass is neither difficult nor long; the greatest danger is posed by cars and angry motorcyclists, the racers of the seven cakes. On the other hand, the descent to the Vistula River is pure pleasure! Have fun.
PS. The ascent to Salmopol should start in Szczyrk Centrum, not in Rybarzowice. Then its length would be 9.95km.
Przełęcz nie jest trudna ani długa, największym niebezpieczeństwem są samochody i wściekli motocykliści, wyścigowcy od siedmiu boleści. Za to zjazd do Wisły to jest czysta przyjemność! Miłej zabawy.
PS. Podjazd na Salmopol powinien się zaczynać w Szczyrku Centrum, a nie w Rybarzowicach. Wtedy jego długość wyniesie 9,95km.
Recommended. As for Polish conditions of mountain driving, it is a bit of a classic. The pass is not difficult, from Szczyrk side it is quite long on such a lazy hill, only the end has a chance to catch something if you want to ride hard, but if you prefer lazy splashes, go ahead, it is not one of those places where the front wheel breaks away from the asphalt.

Przelecz nie jest trudna, od strony szczyrku dosc dlugo sie jedzie na takim leniwym wzniosie, dopiero koncowka cos tam ma szase zapiec jak sie chce mocno pojechac, ale jak ktos woli leniwe czlapanie to prosze bardzo, to nie jest jedno z tych miejsc gdzie przednie kolo odrywa sie od asfaltu.
Yes, it is rather long. The views are probably very nice (unfortunately I didn't see a thing, thick clouds obscured everything) and the road is in very good condition. Descent to Wisła is fast but safe, providing lots of fun.
I was a little underwhelmed, with the mountain pass surprising me by appearing much faster than I expected. I was mentally prepared for some steep section that never really came. But as a way of reaching other, more challenging climbs in the area - it serves that purpose very well.
