The climb starts on England Street on a nice stretch of tarmac. Unfortunately no cycle path present, but it is not really busy here. At the junction with Verrewinkelstraat, turn diagonally right. There are 2 signs for one-way traffic here, but this is allowed for cyclists. Beware of oncoming traffic, however, as in combination with the parked cars, the street width is quite limited. After a good 100 metres, the cobbles start, which look pretty good in 2024. Here too, however, beware of oncoming traffic as the width of the street is very limited, forcing you to drive onto the pavement for large vehicles. At the T-junction - where the cobbles end - turn left into the small tunnel (again very narrow so be careful with other traffic). From here on, the percentages are at their highest and that really hurts after those cobblestones! After about 800 metres you will reach the top. Not the most ideal climb in terms of infrastructure, but for me personally the most challenging of all other alternatives around the Kauwberg. Especially on a car-free Sunday, this is a must if you want to rack up some altimeters!
