The first part is up and down, the real climb only starts when you reach the village of Casarabonela. After the village there is almost no traffic and you climb quietly between the greenery. There is quite some shade from the trees. It is best to do the descent and turn your bike at the bottom and start the way back because the road to El Burgo is really bad.
