The road from Pian d'Alma is a falsopiano with a few short climbs and relative descents, the real climb begins as soon as the road bends to the right. I recommend, especially to the less trained, that you do not start off with too much impetus, as the first section is one of the steepest, and you risk ruining the rest of the climb. As a climb, it is not particularly scenic but it is not bad, and it has the advantage of being one of the few real climbs in the area. Consiglio soprattutto ai meno allenati di non iniziare con troppo impeto, visto che il primo tratto è uno di quelli con la pendenza maggiore, e si rischia di rovinare il resto dell'ascesa. Come salita non è particolarmente scenica ma non è male, e ha il vantaggio di essere una delle poche vere salite in zona. Poco prima dell'arrivo al poggio c'è una fontanella sulla destra. Consiglio anche la discesa verso Castiglione della Pescaia.
