The start of the Montée Pilate is relatively steep and you come off the busy D'Eich route. The route then passes through a residential area with little car traffic. The gradient remains moderate and the climb is relatively short. You reach a plateau with farming, the view from this stretch is not outstanding. From there, if you are travelling by gravel or mountain bike, you can continue through the forest (Bambesch) or descend by road bike via the Rue des Sept-Arpents.
