I cycled up the not so well known Passo Pennes/Penser Joch from Riobianco/Weissenbach, so only the last part of 13 km.
The climb continues its calm approach of the first part through sunny alpine meadows and small villages.
After Pennes/Pens, namesake of the pass and the last village, the somewhat steeper climbing starts continuously until the lonely mountain hut Alpenrose on the pass height (supply) with splendid views along the way. Long, straight climbing roads, which give you the impression of not moving forward, with sporadic hairpin bends, bring you in a kind of triangle route to the summit, which you can already see from far away.
There are no signs for cyclists but the kilometer poles count up to the top (top=50km) so you can still estimate your progress. The route is the shortest connection between Bolzano and Vipiteno but because everyone prefers the faster highway there is little or no traffic.

Easy side but also worth the bike through the mighty scenery without traffic!
