Did this climb 3days ago before the Gavia to ride to bormio from Val Di Sole. A very even climb that is good to do. Except there is a lot of traffic which makes the climb less pleasant.
Deed deze klim 3dagen geleden voor de Gavia om naar bormio te rijden vanuit Val Di Sole. Een zeer gelijkmatige klim, die goed te doen is. Alleen is er wel veel verkeer wat de klim minder aangenaam maakt.
Nice climb with almost-coherent gradient, never challenging.
Good road surface and wide carriageway.
Modest traffic on weekdays but annoying at weekends.
About halfway along the route, past the village of Vermiglio, there is a beautiful view to the left of the Presanella Group.
Urban planning on the pass to be forgotten
Bella salita con pendenza pressoché coatante, mai impegnativa.
Fondo stradale buono e ampia carreggiata.
Traffico modesto nei giorni feriali ma fastidioso nei fine settimana.
A circa metà del percorso, passato l'abitato di Vermiglio, si apre un bellissimo panorama a sx sul Gruppo della Presanella.

Climbed the wide and sometimes busy road of the Passo del Tonale.
Throughout the climb, from village to village, the gradient is constantly around 5 to 7 ％ with some slightly steeper short sections, but never extreme. Along the way, great views of the Adamello massif and some half-open tunnels. Last 2 km are flat (false flat) but I was disappointed with the wind on the open plateau of the pass.
The summit gives a deserted impression in summer with a hotel colony for winter sports enthusiasts. Only the bombastic monument for the Austrian-Italian border war of 1915-1918 caught my eye.
Ideal warming up for the Gavia which you can start from the other side after the descent!
Brede en soms drukke weg van de Passo del Tonale beklommen.
Gedurende de hele klim van dorpje tot dorpje continu rond de 5 à 7 ％ stijging met enkele iets steilere korte stukken,doch nooit extreem. Onderweg regelmatig prachtig uitzicht op het Adamello massief en enkele half open tunnel gaanderijen. Laatste 2 kilometer vlakken af (vals plat) doch die vielen in mijn geval tegen met de wind die er boven op de open plateauvlakte van de pas staat.
Top geeft zomers uitgestorven indruk met hotelkolonie voor wintersporters. Alleen het bombastisch monument voor Oostenrijks-Italiaanse grensoorlog van 1915-1918 sprong in het oog.
Ideale opwarming voor de Gavia die je na de afdaling langs de andere zijde kan starten!
