Near La Chapelle, you turn off the main road to continue the climb past quiet hamlets.

Na het stadje St. Gervais-les-Bains, met voldoende terrassen om even van de omgeving en het leven te genieten, neemt de drukte af.
Rechts zie je de Mont Joly (1.525 mtr.) en links doemen de 4.000-ers op zoals de Aiguille de Bionnassay met daarachter (niet zichtbaar) de Mont Blanc.
Ter hoogte van La Chapelle ga je van de hoofdweg af om langs rustig gelegen gehuchtjes de beklimming te vervolgen.
Na de lift volgt een rotonde waar je rechtdoor gaat. Bij de laatste parkeerplaats kun je nog 100 mtr. doorfietsen om bij de Kapel van de Notre Dame de la Gorge te komen en daar een kaarsje op te steken voor een behouden terugkeer. Daarbij kun je kiezen tussen dezelfde weg terug of bij de rotonde rechts en dan door Les Contamines-Montjoie over de hoofdweg.
