From Matrei I cycled up this beautiful quiet side valley of the Brenner Pass.
In the first kilometers steep uphill to climb out of the Brenner wide busy valley followed by a false flat middle part through small farming villages with even slight descents and beautiful views.
I chose the Unterweg up to Navis but then you have to climb via some hairpin bends to the altitude of the Oberweg to finally reach the last farm of the village Grunhöfe where the tarmac road stops.
Vanuit Matrei dit mooie rustige zijdal van de Brennerpas op gefietst.
In de aanvangskilometers stevig steil omhoog om het brede drukke Brennerdal uit te klimmen gevolgd door een vals plat middendeel door kleine agrarische dorpjes met zelfs lichte afdalingen en prachtige vergezichten.
Koos voor de "Unterweg" tot Navis maar dan moet je als slot via enkele haarspeldbochten eerst stevig steil klimmen tot op het hoogteniveau van de "Oberweg" om uiteindelijk de laatste boerderij van het einddorpje Grunhöfe te bereiken alwaar de asfaltweg stopt.
