I would much rather recommend the same climb done through Vincigliata and Torre di Buiano - less trafficked and more scenic. Personally, the only minus about this climb is that there are quite a few descents and a couple of crossroads along the way, making some of the stretches not great for intervals. But it is amongst my favorite climbs for shorter interval sessions from Florence.
The climb starts at the northern end of Firenze. For the first half there is moderate traffic. For the second, barely any, which is great. Stopping for a few photos here and there the ride took about 90mins. Beautiful views in the last third of the ride. The final ascent is on rougher, sealed road but very quiet. Well worth the effort, though I have found prettier ways up to Fiesole, and from there up to the last 3kms. May post them as an alternate ride.
