Rightly the Ventoux's little brother. Less demanding but nevertheless a hefty climb worthwhile.
The start in the village was equally steep. Then you cycle in the forest for a long time and percentages kept hovering around 5/6/7%. After the turn towards the Abbaye Notre Dame de Lure, the steepest part starts. You then have some bits with percentages above 10%. You also enter the section with more hairpin bends here. Slowly it then opens up and the views come. Sometimes on the Ventoux, sometimes towards the summit of Montagne de Lure. At more than 2 km from the summit, you ride more into the lunar landscape and the real climber is done. You get another stunning turn with views of the snow-capped alpine peaks. That's actually the real highlight because at the summit the view of the valley is just a little less impressive.
Definitely a nice challenging climb! I came from the Fontienne side towards Saint Etienne les Orgues and from that side the climb is 2km at 5% longer.

It was my first high mountain pass, so I had a bit of trouble, but with willpower and determination I got over it. The last 2 kilometres are very easy compared with the previous ones.

It's mostly long. But it's gentle and gradual. The mountain of Lure climbs well. The road is clean, but be careful, some of the bends are lined with gravel. So you have to be very careful on the descent. I didn't come across a single motorised vehicle. The view just before reaching the summit is quite majestic. A good rehearsal before the Ventoux.

C’est surtout long.

I drove up the col 'in the morning and it was almost completely in the shade (fortunately because I had forgotten to put on sun cream), but that also means that while climbing you see little of the surroundings. When you reach the top, however, you have a beautiful view. Especially if you stop at the viewpoint just before the summit in the sharp right turn. I did the climb the 2nd week of July, but it was super quiet and also very few cars's driving up. In short, a very pleasant and fun climb that is quite doable, because despite being a long climb, it is never very steep.

A very nice climb, partly shaded for 4/5 of the distance. An accessible climb in terms of difficulty but you have to manage your effort because 18 kms is long. The surface is correct. At the top a wonderful panorama awaits you. For those who are not interested in timing, there is a beautiful panorama of the north side at 1600m from the summit in a hairpin bend. If you are doing a time trial, once you reach the top, take your courage and come back down to this spot and enjoy the view. The last 2 km are easy, ideal for a refresher course.

Very similar to the Ventoux and therefore its little brother, definitely recommended.

The little brother of the Ventoux. At the bottom, lots of vegetation and sometimes a view at a hairpin bend, later you imagine yourself in the Alps when the road width halves. If you are at the top, super nice view and 10x quieter than the Ventoux!

On the Sommet de Lure you can go even higher with the gravelbike or mtb to Signal de Lure. With the road bike you can continue on the plateau to Col du Pas de la Graille 1597 altimeters. Beautiful quiet area a stone's throw from Circus Ventoux.
