You can see the road ramping up as you approach the foot of the climb, but trust me, that's not the steepest part. It gets steeper, and you think that must be it, but then there's more steep climbing to do after you round a bend mid climb. You can see the road ramping up as you approach the foot of the climb, but trust me, that's not the steepest part. It gets steeper, and you think that must be it, but then there's more steep climbing to do after you round a bend mid climb. This is one of those that takes a long time to flatten off after the shoulder, and you're working against your lactate threshold all the way into the village. Arguably, the climb doesn't end until you start going down Chinnor Hill at the far end, but the gradient in between is mild. Once you come out of the trees and get over the brow of the steep part, there are some nice views from the ridge. It's a good way of avoiding the A4010, too.
