Nice slightly more gradual climb along the 'backside' (north side) of Lousberg. The first part of the climb has poor road surface but after the posts blocking car traffic you climb further over a nice wide road with good tarmac. On your right you have a nice view of Allemania Aachen's Tivoli stadium. The climb meanders through the forest and at the hairpin bend you can enjoy a nice view to the right towards the Netherlands. Then, at the top of the plateau, you join the other ascent and cycle on to the former water tower. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the top is only available for hire, so for nice views of Aachen you'll have to peek between the trees.
Mooie iets geleidelijkere beklimming langs de 'achterzijde' (noordzijde) van de Lousberg. Het eerste deel van de klim heeft slecht wegdek maar na de paaltjes die het autoverkeer tegenhouden klim je verder overe een mooie brede weg met goed asfalt. Aan je rechterzijde heb je een mooi uitzicht op het Tivoli-stadion van Allemania Aachen. De klim kronkelt door het bos en bij de haarspeldbocht kun js rechts mooi uitkijken richting Nederland. Daarna sluit je bovenop het plateau aan bij de andere opgang en fiets je door naar de voormalige watertoren. Helaas is het restaurant op de top alleen nog maar af te huren, dus voor mooie uitzichten op Aachen moet je een beetje tussen de bomen doorkijken.
