The first section up to the Pont des Chèvres is relatively straightforward and very shady (and even cold in winter or in the morning!). After that, the slope gradually becomes steeper but is never excessive and even includes a few small flat areas. It's a rather long and tiring pass, however, on a road that doesn't always feel very good.
