Unfortunately the tarmac isn't of a good quality, but doable. Certainly when climbing you have time enough to avoid any holes or bad parts......but pay attention to the descent and make sure you have good brakes!!! You might sometimes have to get rid of some horseflies. You can nicely combine this climb with Mur de Courmettes a little but further down the road to Le Bar-sur-Loup.... read more

My Garmin bike computer indicated at some points 24% climb...so be prepared.
Hardly any traffic, especially when you are out of Tourettes.
It was 12 degrees and cloudy, so pretty lousy for the Riviera, but with the arm warmers on, it was okay. You certainly pedal yourself hot in the beginning too with gradients of 20%. For me, my front wheel would come off the ground. For me, it was so tiring that I stopped a few times and even walked 100 metres. From the stables ("Ranch" it said on the sign) it becomes less steep - and the road less good, although there was fresh asphalt in some of the holes. At some point, the trees disappear and the views come, all the way to the Mediterranean! The road stops at a farm, Le Mas de la Source. The descent was not very nice, as the road is too uneven and curvy to gain speed. The town of Tourettes at the foot of the climb is another hidden gem, though, with its medieval alleys. I did this climb to see if I could handle percentages of 20%. So no. That reminds me.
Nee dus. Weet ik dan ook weer.
Cairo!?!
3 short kilometres! Come on ! Fun!
And then, Tourettes-sur-Loup, the starting village, is rather pretty.
It's not easy to show the percentage of a climb on a photo!
The first kilometre is hellish!
The next three are barely more human...
I arrived at the top with my forehead dripping, even though it was just 15 degrees.
The effort was truly intense.
The road is full of potholes, but given the toughness of the climb, there's plenty of time to get around them.
At the top, you wonder where you are. A beautiful old abandoned farm. A beekeeper with his Cairo bees. Two beautiful, well-to-do buildings. Strange trees and the Mediterranean in the background.
It's not bad!
Le Caire !?!
3 petits kilomètres ! Allez ! Amusant !
