I can confirm what I said in my previous comment, that the climb can indeed be done on a road bike, but then it's very risky on the descent.
I've posted photos showing the state of the road, which is like this for 3/4 of it when there aren't huge potholes.
Sometimes you have to go down to the right and sometimes to the left, it took me 55 minutes to go down 16km, on an 8% gradient, which is an understatement, when I exceeded 20km/h I was happy.

Looking at the profile you would think it was a beautiful, sporty and magnificent climb, but it is not, I live 3km from the foot of the hill and don't try it, or at least not on an ordinary road bike, at the very least with a gravel bike or better a mountain bike.
I went there about fifteen years ago and on the descent I blew a tyre, always on the brakes to avoid potholes and other traps.
I have a neighbour who has a summer house a few miles from the summit and he said that the road has never been maintained, in some places there is not even any tarmac left.
The total is not 12,9km as indicated but almost 16Km with 1300M of ascent.
It's a shame because the views from the Chalet de L'Ebaudiaz are superb, you can see Lake Annecy on the other side of the Bauges massif.
A goat farmer is also present during the summer season and sells cheese.
