Climb where, in nice weather, you almost feel like you are in Tuscany because of the beautiful row of trees you cycle towards. The tarmac of the side road is good and from there you have great views of the Geul valley. The gravel part is a bit tricky with narrow tyres. Actually only suitable for wider tyres and you should definitely avoid it in wet weather.
Klim waarbij je je met mooi weer haast in de Toscane waant vanwege de mooie bomenrij waar je naartoe fietst. Het asfalt van de zijweg is goed en van daaraf heb je een prachtig uitzicht op het Geuldal. Het graveldeel is wel oppassen met smalle bandjes. Eigenlijk alleen geschikt voor bredere banden en je moet het zeker mijden bij natte weersomstandigheden.
A climb you should do for the view. A nice, not too difficult alternative for the Kruisberg from Wahlwiller, if your route goes from Gulpen to Eys.
The unpaved part is doable when it is dry and with tyre width 28 or wider.
Een klim die je voor het uitzicht moet doen. Een mooi, niet zwaar alternatief voor de Kruisberg vanuit Wahlwiller, als jouw route van Gulpen richting Eys gaat.
Het stuk onverhard is goed te doen als het droog is en met bandbreedte 28" of breder.
This climb is an extended version of the Plettenberg from Wittem. Just before the highest point of the big road you turn sharp right into a small tarmac road. It follows the highest point of the ridge between Partij and Eys and has beautiful views on both sides. Further on the asphalt ends and a part with gravel follows until the well-known tree on top of the Kruisberg. From here there are asphalt descents in several directions or you can go straight on over asphalt towards Baneheide. The gravel is sometimes coarse, but good to ride, there are no big holes.
Deze klim is een verlengde versie van de Plettenberg vanuit Wittem. Vlak voor het hoogste punt van de "grote weg" ga je scherp rechtsaf een klein asfaltweggetje in. Deze volgt ongeveer het hoogste punt van de rug tussen Partij en Eys en heeft aan beide kanten fraaie uitzichten. Verderop eindigt het asfalt en volgt er een gedeelte met gravel tot de bekende boom bovenop de Kruisberg. Vanuit hier zijn er asfaltafdalingen in meerdere richtingen of je kan rechtdoor over asfalt richting Baneheide. Het gravel is soms grof maar is goed te berijden, er zijn geen grote gaten.
