A climb of two contrasting sections. First part (Abermorddu - Cymau) is on a well maintained road with three entertaining steep ramps. A climb of two contrasting sections. First part (Abermorddu - Cymau) is on a well maintained road with three entertaining steep ramps. In Cymau, by the Talbot Inn (currently closed 2025), turn right onto a country lane (there are two lanes - correct one is signed Ffordd Las). The character of the climb now changes significantly as it quickly steepens (double digits). Turn off Ffordd Las after 340m - it's a steep right turn. There is a 'Y' junction shortly after - take the left branch. This final section of the climb (after turning right off Ffordd Las) is the Strava Segment 'it only gets steeper'. Can't argue with the segment name and I suspect Veloviewer underplays the gradient. The crux is a steep left-hand hairpin just after the 'Y' junction (20%+). After this the tarmac deteriorates significantly - potholes, very broken up and gritty. Once off the top the slight descent and ride across to Waun-y-Llyn Country Park is well worth the climb with sweeping views to your right across to the Cheshire Plain and beyond.
