Class views, decent roads, couple of cautious drivers but fine when quiet.
I'm surprised this climb has not been reviewed before - it's superb. The scenery is majestic as the route climbs up the glaciated valley from Gatesgarth. Hemmed in by steep craggy sides the route meanders along by the Gatesgarthdale beck. The gradient increases steadily as the valley narrows until you're finally climbing up the headwall at 25% to the top of the pass. The feeling of climbing up out of the valley and over the top of the pass gives a real sense of achievement. In my opinion it's a much more dramatic climb than the approach from Seatoller.
