Climb from the valley of the Amstelbach to the Hamweg. There are two ways to reach the start of the climb: either descend from Hamweg to the little bridge over the Amstelbach and then start the climb or approach from Horbach via Heyder Feldweg (last 300 metres of gravel track fine for road bikes), cross the Amstelbach via the little bridge and then start the climb. The steepest part is in the middle of the climb without getting really tough.... read more

In terms of landscape, very pleasant shortcut from Germany. Then you do have to go over gravel for several hundred metres (and after the little bridge a very short section on a tarmac path) so if you don't want to do that you have to descend via the climbing section - there's a turning point for cars at the bottom so turning is easy. The climb itself is on an excellent tarmac road and the scenery is unexpectedly beautiful with the valley on the left. Not steep, but you do enjoy it. The little tunnel and the hairpin turn at the end (do give way to crossing cyclists) is a nice extra.

Qua landschap zeer aangename doorsteker vanuit Duitsland.
